Muscat: The Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning (MoHUP), in coordination with the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), held a briefing session to review the master plan of Greater Salalah. The session highlighted the government’s long‑term urban, economic, and logistics vision for Salalah under the Oman Vision 2040 framework.
Officials presented the Greater Salalah Structural Plan, which integrates key economic engines — Port of Salalah, Salalah Free Zone, and Salalah Airport City Logistics Hub — into a unified development strategy aimed at strengthening logistics, manufacturing, investment, and urban growth across Dhofar Governorate.
The briefing also showcased the New City Salalah Masterplan, designed by Sasaki, covering 7.3 km² and featuring:
- Over 12,000 residential units for 60,000 residents
- A 6 km public beach and pedestrian marina
- 3.5 million m² of parks and open spaces
- 200,000 m² retail & hospitality
- 100,000 m² cultural facilities
- Two new hospitals
- Climate‑resilient infrastructure including wetland parks and coastal protection systems
The project forms part of Oman’s RO 33 billion development pipeline, with Phase 1 delivering 5,827 homes and expected developer returns of 10.2%.
MoHUP emphasized that Greater Salalah’s transformation will enhance liveability, diversify the economy, and position Salalah as a year‑round tourism, logistics, and investment hub connecting Asia, Europe, and Africa.
